Arca Continental, the company formed through the merger of Embotelladoras Arca (Arca) and Grupo Continental (Contal), has recorded a rise in first-half profits, driven by increased volume across all territories.

For the six months to the end of June, profits climbed by 29.3% to MXN1.49bn (US$127.7m), the Coca-Cola bottler reported yesterday (27 July). Due to the merger that closed on 1 June, results include six months of Arca and one month of Contal.

Operating profits in the period soared by 48% to MXN3.51bn. Sales amounted to MXN17.40bn, a 44.4% increase on the prior-year period.

For the second quarter, profits rose by 34.9% to MXN34.9%, while operating profits climbed by 56.7% to MXN2.26bn. Sales reached MXN10.16bn, a 54.7% increase on the prior-year period.

"We are very pleased to report that, after only a few weeks since completing our merger, Arca Continental sustained a positive trend in its results," said Arca Continental's CEO, Garza Egloff. "We have made major advances in integrating best practices and experiences of both entities in order to capitalise on the opportunities to improve and strengthen our leadership while building a sound foundation for growth."
