Bodyarmor has appointed the COO of Swire Coca-Cola to assume the same position at the US sports drink company, less than a year after he was promoted internally by the US Coca-Cola bottler.

Paul Lukanowski will move across to Bodyarmor on 4 March, the firm announced yesterday. The appointment, for a newly-created position, comes around six months after The Coca-Cola Co lined up the purchase of a minority stake in Bodyarmor, overtaking Keurig Dr Pepper, which has a near-16% holding.

Lukanowski has spent 22 years with Swire Coca-Cola, where he was promoted to COO, from GM, in May last year. In his new role, he will report into Bodyarmor president Brent Hastie, who is also moving over from the Coca-Cola system, in two months' time.

"Paul is the perfect addition to Bodyarmor's senior leadership team at an extremely important time in the company's history," said company founder & chairman Mike Repole. "Paul's expertise and knowledge of the Coca-Cola bottling system and impressive track record within the beverage industry will help continue Bodyarmor's momentum in the system and bring us closer to our goal of becoming the number one global sports drink by 2025."

According to the company, sales in 2018 broke US$400m.
