The US arm of Anheuser-Busch InBev has launched a hard seltzer under its Natural Light brand as it continues to combat declines in light beer sales in the country with 'near-beer' innovations. The 6%-abv Natural Light Seltzer joins Bon & Viv's Spiked in A-B InBev's alcoholic sparkling water portfolio.

The new launch comes amid a surge in popularity for hard seltzers that is helping to fuel growth for US brewers hit by declining beer demand

A-B InBev, which has seen volumes for its Bud Light brand drop in the US, has turned to flavoured malt beverages to try to reclaim consumers from wines and spirits. Earlier this year, the brewer's US unit overhauled Bon & Viv's and dropped the Bud Light name from its Lime-a-Rita range.

The Natural Light Seltzer follows A-B InBev's launch in April of Naturdays, a strawberry-flavoured Natural Light beer in a bright pink can.

The new seltzer is available in two fruit flavours: Aloha Beaches combines mango and peach while Catalina Lime Mixer features black cherry and lime.

"The seltzer category is booming" said Ricardo Marques, VP of core & value brands at Anheuser-Busch. "It's part of a larger shift in consumption across America and we believe it has tremendous staying power."
