AB InBevs Budweiser 1933 Repeal Reserve Amber Lager will roll out across the US

AB InBev's Budweiser 1933 Repeal Reserve Amber Lager will roll out across the US

The limited-edition 1933 Repeal Reserve Amber Lager is 6.1% abv and comes packaged in vintage Budweiser stubby bottles. It will roll out across the US from this week as a celebration of the repeal of Prohibition, AB InBev said today.

"While Budweiser Repeal Reserve is a great tasting amber lager, it also tells the story of an important part of our history and gives reason for celebration," said Ricardo Marques, vice president of Budweiser.

This is not the first time that AB InBev has launched a 6% Budweiser. Budweiser Black Crown launched in January 2013 but was reportedly axed less than four years later. An AB InBev spokesperson told just-drinks that Black Crown was the last beer sold the company sold under the Budweiser name.

A six-pack of 1933 Repeal Reserve Amber Lager will sell for an average US$8.99.

just-drinks says: The craft-style cues of 1933 Repeal Reserve Amber Lager is a departure for the Budweiser brand, which only a few years ago mocked craft beers such as pumpkin ale in a Super Bowl ad. However, AB InBev has been investing in its core global brands Budweiser, Corona and Stella Artois around the world as margins for value beer weaken.
