A-B InBev said this week it will "fully integrate" Camden Town into Budweiser Brewing Group UK & Ireland from January. According to the Budweiser brewer, "now is the time" to incorporate Camden Town to keep up with strong demand and enable further growth.

UK trade publication The Grocer, which first reported the integration move this week, said Camden Town founder Jasper Cuppaidge will step away from the business into a consulting role. CEO Adam Keary is expected to leave in March.

An A-B InBev spokesperson told just-drinks Cuppaidge and Keary will lead the transition from Camden to Budweiser Brewing Group. Cuppaidge will then take on "a consulting role," the spokesperson said.

Asked if the restructure will result in job cuts, the spokesperson said this could not be confirmed as consultations with staff were ongoing.

In a statement, Budweiser Brewing Group president Paula Lindenberg said the company will continue to focus on growing the craft beer brand. "We love the Camden Town brand and ethos, and we do not want to change this, but to see it continue to grow," Lindenberg said.

A-B InBev agreed to pay a reported GBP85m (then-US$124m) for Camden Town Brewery in December 2015. Since then, Camden Town has increased brewing capacity through a second production plant and made plans to open a visitor experience complete with restaurant, tours, taproom and shop.
