Budweiser has been named the world's most valuable beer brand for the first time, overtaking Anheuser-Busch InBev stablemate Bud Light, according to rankings compiled by brand consultancy Brand Finance.

The Brand Finance Beers Top 25, published earlier today, shows Budweiser in top spot following a 6% climb in brand value to US$7.5bn over the past year. The group's Bud Light, meanwhile, fell back 5% to $7bn.

A-B InBev has 11 brands in total among the top 25, down from 13 last year. Brand Finance highlighted Budweiser's sponsorship of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which it said had reached 3.2bn football fans, opening up growth in markets including South Africa, Colombia, China and Australia.
