Anheuser-Busch InBev is close to buying the remaining stake in Grupo Modelo, according to reports.

The deal could be worth around US$12bn and come "as early as this week", the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday (24 June). A-B InBev currently has a 50% non-controlling stake in Corona Extra brewer, Modelo.

The company inherited its 50% stake in Modelo off the back of InBev buying Anheuser-Busch in 2008. A-B InBev and Modelo have endured a fractious relationship since the deal.

Neither A-B InBev or Modelo are commenting on the latest reports.
