A-B InBev repurchased OB in April

Anheuser-Busch InBev has appointed a president for its South Korea unit.

Frederico Freire will take over as business unit president for Korea and APAC, A-B InBev said today. Frederico, who is currently VP of expansion & integration for China, will report to A-B InBev Asia Pacific head Michel Doukeris.

Freire will take control of South Korea's biggest beer producer Oriental Brewery (OB), which A-B InBev took full ownership of in April after exercising an option to reacquire the brewer.

Current OB head Insoo Chang has been appointed the brewery's vice chairman. “Under Insoo Chang’s leadership, OB achieved continuous and steady growth, resulting in a strengthened leading position in the Korean beer market,” a spokesperson for A-B InBev said.

A-B InBev had sold OB to private-equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co and Affinity Equity in 2009.
