AmBev has begun restructuring its units in Bahia. The soft drink bottler in the Salvador metropolitan region of Simoes Filho has already started to transfer all of its production 55km from the capital to the Camacari unit.

A report by the Gazeta Mercantil newspaper claims that the Camacari plant, which only produced beer will expand to include Brahma and the Antarctica soft drink in 600ml PET bottles. It will also produce Pepsi in one and two litre PET bottles and returnable bottles of 330ml, 300ml and 290ml.

The report also claims that AmBev has already invested R$5m (US$2.4m) to construct a water main for the Camacari plant and to build two soft drink bottling lines with a capacity for 1.75m hectolitres a year.
