SPI's Baltic unit, Amber Beverage Group, has appointed two new members to its board.

Sergey Kovanda and Jeff Hopmayer joined ABG's supervisory board on 1 April, as non-executive directors. Hopmayer, the former CEO of Blavod, is a managing partner at beverage consultancy firm the Brindiamo Group. He also sits on the board at Bardstown Bourbon Co. According to his LinkedIn profile, Hopmayer has been on the SPI board since June 2017.   

Kovanda, assistant rector at the Moscow International Institute, sits on the board of the Russian-French joint venture Continental-Invest. ABG said he has also been a "major shareholder in the Russian commercial bank Severo-Vostochny Alliance since 1996" as well as a "board member of several international financial and manufacturing companies".

ABG employs about 2,400 people at four main production facilities in Mexico, Russia, Latvia and Estonia and its distribution companies in the Baltics and the UK. 

In December, ABG rolled out the Riga Black Balsam brand to the US market.
