Altia has signed an agreement with Orange Trading in Kazakhstan

Nordic wine and spirits firm Altia has announced plans to roll out its Koskenkorva Vodka brand to Kazakhstan.

The company said today that it has signed a distribution contract with Orange Trading in the country. The importer is set to start handling the brand from August.

"This marks the opening of a significant market for us in Central Asia," said Janne Halttunen, SVP in charge of exports at Altia. "Our Russian exports have been on the rise for a while now, and the contract for distribution to Kazakhstan is a natural continuation. Orange Trading is a strong partner that can develop the Koskenkorva Vodka brand over the long term."

The launch in Kazakhstan will be bolstered by Altia's presence at Expo 2017 in the country's capital, Astana, which takes place from 10 June to 10 September. Altia will champion the green credentials of its Koskenkorva distillery in Finland.

"Astana Expo is a good opportunity for us to highlight Finnish beverage manufacturing expertise," added Halttunen.

Koskenkorva Vodka is currently exported to around 30 countries.
