According to data based on sales at the country's alcohol retail monopoly, Alko, in restaurants, alcohol sales in Finland rose by 5% in 2001 to €3.7 billion ($3.696 billion). Average per capita annual alcohol consumption rose by 0.2 litres to 9 litres in 2001.
