Food and drinks group PepsiCo has announced the election of publishing executive Alberto Ibarguen to its board of directors, with effect from 1 October. Ibarguen is also to serve on the company's audit committee.

Ibarguen was formerly chairman of the Miami Herald Publishing Company and is also a former publisher of The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald. A Harvard graduate, before going into publishing Ibarguen worked as a lawyer.
