AG Barr's cocktail syrup producer Funkin has launched two new flavours - Jalapeño and Smoke.

The company said the new additions are in response to on-trade demand for complex cocktails inspired by trends for US smokehouse and Mexican fusion food. Funkin Pro Smoked Syrup is flavoured using smoked oak wood while Funkin Pro Jalapeño Syrup uses ground Jalapeños to create a fiery, peppery heat, Funkin said.

The two flavours are available in cases of six 36cl bottles and have a two-year shelf life.

AG Barr acquired UK-based Funkin in a deal worth GBP21m (US$31.5m) last year.

Funkin, launched in the late 1990s, produces fruit purees, cocktail mixers and syrups for on-trade outlets designed to allow bars to produce quick and easy cocktails. Its business is primarily in the UK, but the company also has business units in Europe and the US. In 2014, its sales were around GBP9m.
