AG Barr is launching a larger can size for its Irn-Bru 32 energy drink.

The Scotland-based soft drinks company said today (19 June), that the energy beverage's new 330ml cans will contain 32% more liquid than the current 250ml can.

Irn-Bru 32, based on the original Irn-Bru brand flavour, has sold more than 8m cans to date and accounts for 10% market share in Scotland since its introduction into the energy drinks market, according to the company.

The launch of the 330ml can will be supported by a GPB1m (US$2m) campaign involving radio and outdoor advertising, including posters and bus rears and POS support with the message Irn-Bru 32: It Works. The new can is being rolled out now and will be available in stores across the UK by the end of the month.

AG Barr's brand manager Martin Steele said: "We've been delighted with how Irn-Bru 32 has been performing since we launched last year. Consumers seem to love the taste and research has shown they wanted a bigger can. We're happy to deliver that with the launch of the 330ml sleek can size and look forward to more success with the support of our GBP1m new marketing campaign."

The company recently reported that overall revenue in the period from the end of January to the end of April was up by 21% compared with the same period last year. Stripping out proceeds from the Strathmore water business, which was acquired in June last year, revenue increased by 11%.
