Admiral Taverns' new CEO Kevin Georgel

Admiral Taverns, one of the UK's biggest pub companies, has appointed a CEO in the wake of its executive chairman leaving the group.

The company, which is owned by US private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management, said today (4 February) that it has made the group's current MD, Kevin Georgel, its CEO with immediate effect. He replaces Jonathan Paveley, who has decided to step down after four years as the group's executive chairman.

Paveley is leaving to “pursue other opportunities”, the company said.

Admiral, which owns around 1,000 pubs, has also appointed John Sands as its non-executive chairman. Sands has been a non-executive director of the group since last September.

Sands said: "Kevin Georgel is an excellent choice for CEO, and I look forward to working with him ... to drive the continued development of the group.”

Georgel is a former operations director of Punch Taverns and also spent three years at Molson Coors as an account manager.
