Accolade is moving ahead to acquire Grant Burge Wines

Accolade Wines is formally moving ahead with a deal to acquire Australian producer Grant Burge Wines for an undisclosed sum.

The deal, announced today, will see South Australia-headquartered Accolade take control of the Grant Burge brand and business in the Barossa Valley, along with its Krondorf Winery. The transaction is expected to complete next month, “subject to certain third party conditions”.

Accolade, which is owned by private equity group CHAMP, had confirmed last month that it was in talks to buy the 26 year-old company.

Grant Burge Wines labels include Meshach Shiraz, Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon and Abednego Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre.

The company was founded by Grant and Helen Burge in 1988. Grant Burge is a fifth-generation winemaker.

In a joint-statment, the Burge family said they are “looking forward to working closely with Accolade” and seeing their portfolio of wines “becoming more widely-known and appreciated outside of Australia”.
