Access Beverage has entered into negotiations to export wine and spirits to the Chinese market for mass distribution.

It is estimated that the deal could be worth up to US$20m for Access Beverage over the course of two years, the US-based firm said yesterday (18 February).

It said talks were being held with a "major Chinese company".

CEO James Moeller said: "I am extremely optimistic and confident that we will see considerable growth in our sector despite a weakening economy. Over the past number of weeks we have experienced a heightened level of deal flow, and increased interest in our private labelling programs, all of which have the potential to add significantly to our profitability."

The company recently announced its plans to acquire a 50% stake in a leading European vodka company, Diamond Wodka BVBA.
