The central Italian region of Abruzzo has approved a EUR4.5m (US$5.3m) vineyard restructuring plan for the next year.

The region will distribute the funds after a process of tender, according to local press yesterday (5 December). The funds were granted for restructuring and modernisation of vineyards covering some 750 hectares.

The goals of the plan are to target promotion of machinery use, cuts in production expenses, improvement of management techniques and rise in quality wines output in the sector.
