Anheuser-Busch InBev has added a UK craft brewer to its portfolio, acquiring London's Camden Town Brewery for an undisclosed sum.

The brewer, which added Arizona's Four Peaks Brewing Co to its US craft footprint late last week, confirmed the purchase of Camden Town Brewery earlier today. Should AB InBev's takeover of SABMiller proceed, the London craft brewer will join SAB's London-based Meantime Brewing Co on the company's roster.

AB InBev said earlier this month, however, that it would listen to offers for Meantime, to help navigate any possible regulatory issues in the UK.

Known for its flagship Hells Lager and Gentleman's Wit brands, Camden Town Brewery was set up in 2010 by pub owner Jasper Cuppaidge. The company now employs 95 people and sold in the region of 12m pints this year, both in the UK and abroad in markets including Australia, Japan and Sweden.

The craft brewer now plans to expand its operations, including construction of a second brewery.

"To keep up with the demand for our beers we've had to look at expanding our brewing capacity and team," said Cuppaidge. "AB InBev is going to be our strategic partner, helping us maintain the character and quality of our beers, while giving us access to the investment we need to drive Camden to being ever more successful at home and abroad."

The transaction is expected to close on 7 January.
