The Estonian subsidiary of Finland's Olvi Oyj, A. le Coq, has acquired an additional 30.36% stake in the Latvian brewery Cesu Alus.

According to local press reports the deal cost €3.7m and increases its overall stake in the company to 90.87%.

Net sales of Cesu Alus were €2.7m in 2001, and its stake in the Latvian beer market was 7.2% in the first quarter of 2002.

A. le Coq Tartu brewery is the largest cider and long drink maker in Estonia and the second-largest beer, soft drinks and bottled water maker. In the first quarter of the year the company had a 50% of the Estonian cider market, 41% of the beer market, 46% of the long drink market, 25% of soft drinks market and 14% of bottled water market in Estonia at the end of the first quarter this year.
