Italy is expecting one of its smallest harvests of the past 30 years, according to Italian farmers association Coldiretti. The harvest is expected to be of a high quality, however, due to favourable climatic conditions.

The harvest is expected to begin in October and could continue until November.

Last year, some vintners began harvesting in early September as the heat wave took its toll.

Italian wine production is expected to increase by 10% compared to 2003, however, when, due to the drought, quantity was very low.
