Report description

With the return of the recession, Belgian hot drinks faced opposing growth trends in 2012. Off-trade volume growth was positive following the decline seen in 2011. In contrast, value growth slowed down following the strong increase driven by soaring coffee prices in 2011. The return of the recession favoured off-trade over on-trade volume sales, and supermarkets stepped up their efforts to attract customers. Off-trade volume growth was also encouraged by more stable prices in 2012.
