Modest growth for global travel retail

Global travel retail sales of wines and spirits, including pre-mix drinks, rose by a modest 1.8% in 2014, reaching 30.2m nine-litre cases in what was a year of mixed fortunes.

Better value: Value trends were more positive, with travel retail wine and spirits sales rising 7.7% in 2014 to reach nearly US$9bn, excluding still light wine and mixed drinks.

Growth areas: The Americas registered volume and value growth of 4.4% and 12.2% respectively, lifting its market share to 19.5%, while Asia Pacific recovered from 2013 to post a 2.9% volume rise and a 6.8% value boost, making its share 9.2%. The fastest growth came from Africa and the Middle East in 2014, where volumes rose by 9% and value by 16.2%.
