Coca-Cola's CEO has admitted he expects the global macroeconomic environment in 2015 to be even more volatile than the last two years, particularly in the Eurozone.

Coca-Cola is forecasting more volatility in 2015

Speaking to analysts yesterday following the group's full-year results, Muhtar Kent said as “economic vagaries” get worse in some countries this could hamper performance. "We expect the macro environment to even become a little more volatile versus 2013 and 2014," he said.

The US and the UK are “starting the year strong”, Kent said, but “the Eurozone, Japan and most of the emerging worlds (are) starting the year slower. So there is this kind of gap and some catching up to do.”

Coca-Cola yesterday reported a 17% drop in full-year profits as sales slipped 2%. However, profits beat analysts' expectations as the company implements a major cost-savings programme

The company has suffered from a slowdown in CSD sales in the US, but Kent flagged the strong performance of some of its still brands. Tea labels, Gold Peak and Fuze, and Japanese water brand Lohas were all highlighted by the Coca-Cola chief.

Kent said the average household globally consumes 26 beverages a day and of these only 1.4 are Coca-Cola brands. “Our opportunity to capture more beverage (occasions) is just immense,” he said. The company last year struck deals with Green Mountain to work on a home carbonation system and energy drinks producer Monster Beverage Corp

On developing markets, Kent struck a positive tone, adding the company is still “bullish” on Asia and Africa as it reorganises its bottling structure
