PepsiCo and Coca-Cola Co have a history of closely following the other's lead when it comes to innovation and deals.

So it seems with today's announcement that Coca-Cola Co is investing in Zico, a premium coconut water producer in the US.

Just two weeks ago, PepsiCo snapped up the largest coconut water producer in Brazil, declaring its intention to sell coconut water around the world.

We have found a new battleground, it seems.
