As the world economy plunges into the abyss, EU finance ministers have come up with a ground-breaking plan to co-ordinate their response.

This week they announced that they had all swapped personal mobile telephone numbers. According to newswire reports, we have French finance minister Christine Lagarde to thank for this avant-garde approach.
