Woodford Reserve Bourbon is to sponsor the 107th running of the Manhattan Handicap this weekend.

Brand owner Brown-Forman said today (5 June) that the race, which precedes the running of the Belmont Stakes, will take place at Belmont Park, New York on Saturday (7 June) and carries a purse of US$400,000.

Currently the "Official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby", Woodford Reserve will also become the "Official Bourbon of the Belmont Stakes".

"Woodford Reserve is proud to partner with Belmont Park and a distinguished race such as the Manhattan Handicap," said Wayne Rose, Brown-Forman's brand director for Woodford Reserve. "As the only Bourbon distillery to have its own stable of race horses, we are proud to be associated with another superior group of thoroughbreds."

The Manhattan Handicap was inaugurated at Morris Park in 1896. The winner of the 2008 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic, Einstein, is scheduled to run in the race on Saturday.
