Wine exports from Australia have set a record for the year to the end of September, according to recent figures.
The Australian Wine and Brandy Corp. confirmed today (8 October) that exports of wine in the 12 months to the end of September increased by 9% in value terms on the corresponding period a year earlier, reaching A$3.02bn (US$2.71bn). In volume terms, the climb was mirrored, the AWBC said, rising 9% to 804m litres.
The average price of Australian bottled wine abroad slowed its decline, dropping by only 0.4% year-on-year to A$3.75.
In its latest report, the industry body said: "The growth in low value bulk wine shipments is slowing and has been largely replaced by re-emerging growth in bottle shipments. In addition, prices for bottled wine have increased."
