GERMANY: Wine consumption flat and value down in Germany
The German market consumed a total of 19.7m hectolitres of wine in 2001, according to figures released by the managing director of the German Wine Institute (DWI) Armin Goering this week. However, per capita wine consumption in Germany remained at the 2000 level of 23.9 litres and the average bottle price fell.
