William Grant & Sons has completed its deal to acquire the spirits and liqueurs business of C&C Group for EUR300m (US$367m).

The deal hands William Grant the Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey brand, as well as Frangelico liqueur and Carolans cream liqueur.

Tullamore Dew will become a core brand in the William Grant portfolio alongside Glenfiddich and Grant's Scotch whiskies and Hendrick's gin.

"We shall invest significantly in the Irish operations and are committed to building a strong business in Ireland and to maintaining and developing current operations here in Clonmel," said William Grant CEO Stella David.

There has been speculation that William Grant intends to build a distillery in Ireland for Tullamore Dew, which is currently produced under contract.

The deal allows C&C Group to focus on Magners cider in the UK, Bulmers in Ireland and also Tennent's lager in Scotland.
