Westons Cider has lined up a repackage of its Old Rosie cider brand in the UK.

The privately-owned company, which also owns the Stowford Press cider brand, said earlier this week that the new look is a result of research conducted with both existing cider drinkers and real ale consumers in the country. The updated bottle was launched at the Great British Beer Festival in London this week.

“Old Rosie is a traditional cloudy cider that was named after Westons Cider’s much loved old 1921 Aveling and Porter steam roller,” said Ian Lewis, Weston's head of marketing.

“However, the personality of a cider named after a steam engine was not coming through, so we embarked on a review of the Old Rosie packaging.”

Earlier this year, Westons secured a sponsorship tie-up with the England & Wales Cricket Board for Stowford Press.

Old Rosie is available from branches of Waitrose supermarket in the UK, with an abv of 7.3% and a SRP of GBP5.37 (US$8.40) per two-litre bottle.
