Wessanen expects to wrap up the sale of American Beverage Corp before the end of 2012

Dutch food group Wessanen has re-affirmed that it expects to complete the sale of its American Beverage Corp (ABC) unit by the end of the year, despite the absence of a confirmed buyer.

The company said back in June that it was still looking to offload ABC, which owns the Daily's Cocktails and Guzzler soft drinks brands, so that it can “focus on organic food in Europe”. A spokesperson for the firm told just-drinks at the time that it would “narrow down the number of interested parties over the coming months”.

In announcing its Q3 results yesterday (25 October), Wessanen said that it has “made clear progress in the (divestment) process during the last months. Based on current insights,” the company said, “we target signing for the latter part of the fourth quarter.”

When contacted by just-drinks today, a spokesperson reiterated the firm's intentions, but declined to give specific details about potential suitors. “We've been seeing some interest,” the spokesperson said, “but we will not comment on price range or interested parties.”

“When the moment arrives,” the spokesperson concluded, “we will then make an announcement.”

Wessanen originally put the unit up for sale in early-2010.
