Warsteiner Brauerei Haus Cramer KG has picked out two breweries as potential takeover targets. Speaking to German News Digest yesterday (5 June), the German brewer's CEO, Albert Cramer, said that Warsteiner has sufficient funds to hand to make more acquisitions, and is looking at Jever and Erdinger breweries.

Warsteiner's CEO, Gustavo Moeller-Hergt, added that the breweries would allow the company to regain the top position amongst beer makers in Germany.

A spokesman for Jever's owner, Brau und Brunnen, told the news agency that the Jever brewery is not for sale as it belongs to the company's core business group, along with the Radeberger brewery.
