UK: Voltz Distribution to launch energy 'shot' drink

Voltz Distribution UK is to begin distributing the 'Voltz 5-hour energy shot' drink.
The group said late last week that it hopes to replicate growth of the energy shot market in the US.
"The energy shot market sector has exploded in recent years and reached unprecedented sales of US$500m in the US in 2008," said Rob Arnold, CEO of Voltz Distribution UK.
"However, most high-energy drinks are not actually very healthy. Many fizzy energy products contain large amounts of sugar and caffeine, which although give an instant boost, can make you "jittery" and result in a "crash" several hours later. It is also necessary to consume a large volume of liquid to feel the benefit of these drinks.
"However, the Voltz energy shot is a completely different concept," added Arnold. "It is made up of a combination of B Vitamins, amino acid and anti-oxidants. The concentrated bottle of energy does not contain carbohydrates and only supplies two calories, giving the consumer an energy boost without the sugar and high concentrations of caffeine."
Voltz doesn't need refrigeration and can be stored at room temperature. It has a recommended retail price of GBP1.79 (US$2.72).
