International wine and spirits exhibition Vinexpo is set to return to Asia in 2008 after its latest event in Hong Kong was hailed as a success.

The Bordeaux-based company said 6,883 visitors attended Vinexpo Asia-Pacific, held in Hong Kong on 23-25 May this year, with 568 exhibitors from 28 countries offering about 60,000 bottles for tasting.

Vinexpo general director Robert Beynat said: "Our exhibitors assure us that they have received very many visitors. Professionals from all over Asia were here, especially China."

Vinexpo chairman Dominique Heriard Dubreuil added: "It is likely that Vinexpo Asia-Pacific will return to Asia in two years."
