German distiller is celebrating its 120th anniversary by launching a limited edition, 1952 vintage brandy. A total of 900 carafes, each individually numbered and cased in a box made from Bavarian wood, will be available.

Underberg took total control of Asbach in 2002, when it bought out Remy Cointreau.

Leading German distiller, Asbach, is celebrating its 120th anniversary by introducing its special edition 1952 vintage brandy named the “Johann Wolfgang von Goethe Vintage Reserve”.

Only 900 one-litre carafes of the limited edition liquid has been produced which comes presented in an exclusive Bohemian style glass bottle. Each unique bottle contains an individual cask number and a certificate of authenticity, encased in a box made of wood from the Bavarian forest. The presentation case also offers two original Asbach branded connoisseur glasses.

The unique spirit was created at the Rüdesheim distillery using a select 1951 white wine and left to age for six decades. The elite brandy was presented to 80 guests last month, where cellar master Christopher Dellee filled the very first carafe by hand.

Originating in 1892 when Hugo Asbach came back home from France having gained valuable insight into distilling wines, he made his dream come true by establishing his own distillery in Rüdesheim on the river Rhine. Asbach is now among the three best known spirit brands in Germany maintaining brand awareness of 85% and currently exports to 26 countries worldwide.
