The Asahi soft drinks division, Asahi Soft Drinks Co Ltd, is to launch a carbonated grape drink nationwide later this month. The new product will be called Miya Grape and will contain European-style grapes according to Asahi.

Miya Grape will contain 5.5% pure grape juice and will be available in cans and PET bottles. The company expects volume sales of the new product to be in the region of 1.3m cases by the end of 2002.

Meanwhile, the Tokyo-based dairy and soft drinks group, Yakult Honsha Co Ltd, is to launch a new addition to its Lemiola range at the beginning of April. The new product, which will contain the Theanine amino acid found in green tea and herb extracts, will be available in cans and PET bottles.
