US: “Two-Buck Chuck” named as California’s state wine

By | 8 June 2006

Charles Shaw Wines from Bronco Wine Company - otherwise known as "Two-Buck Chuck" - has been named as California's official state wine by the San Francisco Chronicle.

The newspaper said of the accolade: "California wines represent democracy. They showed the world that good wine can be young, flavourful and unpretentious. They showed consumers that they didn't need PhDs to choose a good wine.

"In that spirit, we'd like to recommend Two-Buck Chuck. Not only is Charles Shaw the reigning prince of inexpensive, drinkable wine, but he has brought an entire new market into the industry."
