Tsingtao is looking to build a brewery in the Shangdong province of China, according to local reports.
The Chinese brewer has set aside CNY300m (US$37.7m) to build the facility in Jinan city, in the hope that it will boost total annual output by around 8%, the South China Morning Post said today (30 August).
The factory would have an annual output of around 4m hectolitres, the paper said, and is expected to begin operation by the end of next year.
At the same time, Tsingtao is looking to almost double production capacity at its site in Xuzhou in Jiangsu province to 1.5m hectolitres a year from 800,000 hectolitres. Around CNY62m is available for this expansion, the paper noted.
Earlier this week, Tsingtao posted a 22.5% rise in profit for the first six months of this year, coming in at CNY212.7m. Sales followed suit for the period, increasing by 16% year-on-year to CNY5.77bn.
