US: Trinity Oaks Wines plants tree campaign

By | 3 July 2008

Trinity Oaks Vineyard, part of Trinchero Family Estates, will plant a tree for every bottle of wine sold as part of a year-long campaign.

The "One Bottle, One Tree" campaign set to kick off this month, is a collaboration with Trees for the Future, a non-profit organisation specialising in sustainable agroforestry.

"With the 'One Bottle, One Tree' programme, we plan on helping plant well over a million trees in the coming year," said Bob Torres, senior vice president of operations for Trinchero Family Estates. "It's an undertaking that is very important to us as stewards of the land, but also allows our consumers and trade partners to play an active role in achieving a greater environmental good."

The trees planted will help restore tree cover to tropical landscapes throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America, and remove around 45,000 tons of CO2 from the Earth's atmosphere each year, the company said.
