POLAND: Treasury plans to merge state-owned distillers

By | 6 December 2006

Poland is considering plans to consolidate a number of state-owned distillers into one company.

The country's Treasury Ministry confirmed to just-drinks today (6 December) that it is set to table a proposal to incorporate five distillers into one entity, PGS.

The plan will see distillers including Polmos Bielsko-Biala and Polmos Jozefow come the PGS umbrella - with 30% of the resulting group then floated on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Deputy Treasury Minister Pawel Piotrowski said the ministry then wanted PSG to become part of state sugar company KSC.

The Treasury plans to put its plan before the Polish government by the end of the month.
