NETHERLANDS: Toorank to launch rum range

By | 22 June 2006

Dutch spirits group Toorank Distilleries is set to launch a range of rum-based drinks in the UK and in the Netherlands.

The company will next month unveil TibuRon, a range of flavoured rum cocktails, in the two markets after enjoying success with a carambola, or star fruit, offering in Poland.

The popularity of the carambola in Poland led Toorank to revamp and extend the TibuRon range to five flavours; three - mango, pineapple and coconut - will be sold in the UK.

A spokesperson for Toorank UK told just-drinks today (22 June) that the range will undergo a test launch in on-premise outlets in Glasgow and will make its off-trade debut in Wine Cellar stores.

She added: "Two or three years ago, the company was focusing more on own-label products but a strategic decision was made to move into branded products. We've already seen success with spirits brands including our absinthe and cachaca and we're hoping TibuRon will take off in the same way."
