USA: The Pepsi Bottling Group Names President for European Operations
Mr. Petrides is a 13-year veteran of the Pepsi system, with a background that includes assignments in operations, marketing and general management. His strategic skills and ability to deliver consistently strong results have led to significant business progress in Spain and Greece over the past year.
As the biggest market outside North America, Spain is very important to The Pepsi Bottling Group. The business has shown robust volume and profit growth over the past year. Russia has also made tremendous progress through reestablishing brand Pepsi, developing and growing local brands and managing costs aggressively. Providing singular leadership for all our European operations is a step designed to further advance the progress of PBG's business in Europe.
About the appointment, Craig Weatherup, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Pepsi Bottling Group said, "From an overall performance perspective for PBG, our international businesses have done extremely well, and Yiannis Petrides is one of the biggest reasons why. In creating this new role, we are not only recognizing the significant opportunities we see in our European business -- both present and future -- but we are able to reward one of our most talented senior managers for his major contributions to our business success."
Mr. Petrides holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Cambridge University and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Harvard University. In his new post, Mr. Petrides will remain in Madrid, Spain, and will continue to report to John Cahill, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for The Pepsi Bottling Group.
