UK: Thatchers Cider rolls-out Katy pink cider
By just-drinks.com editorial team | 12 March 2009
Thatchers Cider has rolled-out a pink cider in the UK market.
Katy Rosé is made from English Katy apples, the company said today (12 March) and has a lower ABV (5.4%) than the traditional Thatchers Katy at 7.4%.
"We believe we are the first to press this style of blush cider," said Martin Thatcher, managing director of Thatchers Cider. "The technique of taking colour from the fruit itself is borrowed from the wine industry, and we have carefully adapted it for our cider production.
"The result is a pink cider that has the appearance of a rosé wine but the light taste of a contemporary cider."
The cider is packaged in a wine-style 750ml flint bottle and is being targeted at the female market. It has an RRP of GBP3.79 (US$5.22).
