Tequila exports rose 3% by volume in 2013, with orders from the biggest customer US rising by more than 5m litres. 

Mexico exported 172m litres of the spirit in the 12 months to the end of December, compared to 166.7m litres in 2012, according to Mexico's Tequila Regulating Council (CRT). Bottled shipments totalled 88.3m litres and Tequila in bulk amounted to 83.7m litres.

Exports of Tequila made from 100% agave totalled 63m litres, while sales of other Tequila totalled 108.9m litres.

Exports to the US rose by 4% to 132.3m litres in 2013. Volumes to Germany, Mexico’s second largest Tequila customer, fell by 5% to 5.87m litres.
