US: SWS seals distribution deal with Future Brands
US distributor Southern Wines & Spirits has secured another long-term deal with a major drinks player.
SWS will distribute the Future Brands stable in eight US states, including California, New York and Florida. This agreement extends an existing relationship between the two companies that already sees SWS handle the Future portfolio in four other US states.
Future Brands, the US sales arm for Fortune Brands' drinks arms Jim Beam Brands and Beam Wine Estates, plus Vin & Sprit subsidiary The Absolut Spirits Company, handles an expanded portfolio since Fortune's role in last year's Allied Domecq takeover. Future Brands is now responsible for beverages including Sauza Tequila, Maker's Mark whiskey and Courvoiser Cognac and the additions are covered under its agreement with SWS.
SWS president Wayne Chaplin said: "That is a very attractive set of brands and great business partners. We are delighted to be representing the premium spirits brands in Future Brands' portfolio and the premium and super-premium brands in the Beam Wine Estates portfolio."
Steve Bellini, president and CEO of Future Brands, added: "This contract is the result of a rigorous and thoughtful process aimed at bringing together our expanded portfolio with distributors with the resources, skills, and commitment to drive our brands to even better performance."
