The Portuguese brewer, Sumolis, has said that it expects to post a net loss for 2002, according to a statement by the company's chairman, Antonio Casanova. It will be the group's second consecutive annual loss. At the half-year stage, Sumolis posted a net profit of €400,000 ($401,000).

Sumolis posted a €4.1m ($4.1m) net loss for 2001 on sales of €168.1m, against a €2.6m ($2.6m) net profit in 2000.
