State-owned shares in the Russian brewery Patra will be sold by auction in the fourth quarter of 2002.

The state possesses 25.5% of company shares, with another 23.8% owned by Sun Interbrew, the joint venture between Belgium's Interbrew and Sun Brewing.

Patra employees own a further 50.6% of shares.

A Patra brewery press spokesman said that although "Sun Interbrew" had no influence on Patra activity, Sun Interbrew will probably take part in the auction.

The value of the shareholding on sales is thought to be around US$25m.

During first nine months of 2002, "Patra" brewery has produced 59 million litres of beer and soft drinks.
