UK: Sovio, FSA jury retires for verdict
The jury in the Sovio Wines UK High Court case has retired to decide on a verdict, the company has confirmed.
The company's case against the Food Standard Agency (FSA) challenges a ruling that banned Sovio's reduced alcohol wine in the UK.
The FSA ruled in 2007 that Sovio's 8% alcohol wine was illegal under EU law due to the 'spinning cone' method the company used to reduce the level of alcohol in its semi-sparkling wine.
The formal judicial review began on 9 February and a decision is expected in the next four to six weeks, Sovio told just-drinks today (12 February).
